Microsoft secretly hired PR firm to stymie Google's plans

THE VOLE has hired Burson Marsteller to pitch hacks and businessmen to complain about Google's acquisition of Doubleclick.

According to the Observer, an email sent by the PR firm is backed by Microsoft and invites people to sign up for a firm called Initiative for Competitive Online Marketplaces.

While no one wants to see Google become as over-arching as the Vole, it is a bit rich of Microsoft to stir this particular pot, seeing as it wanted to buy Doubleclick too, and has had, shall we say, somewhat strained relationships with various governments across the world. µ
