If fortune turns against you, even jelly breaks your tooth - Persian proverb
I am aware of your sarcastic nature, which I 'm a fan of, but I had to speak up on this one, just for the knack of it. I sincerely hope any projection concerning the final outcome of the HD format war is out of place.
I chose to support HD DVD just because I don't like Sony. But that is my problem obviously. Yet, I have never tried to dissuade anyone from supporting Blu Ray as it is a well made format. I still believe it 's the most technically advanced of the two and politics is what ultimately holds it back for the time being. Then again, should I ever have the chance to pick a format, I would probably pick holographic storage since I cannot hide my dorky nature.
Being a tech/game journo from Greece, I have written on the subject on multiple occasions, but declaring a winner with certainty when the movie business is as loyal to anything and anyone as a dead puppy can be never really felt right.

Just wanted to see if this was right, they are basically talking about moving air the same way the Ionic Breeze from Sharper Image does, correct? It would work fine in a clean room, but to use them in any normal environment would seem to attract dust like crazy (the usual use for this technology). Also, what they never mention in the ads are that if you don't clean them every 4 to 5 days, they start sparking... loudly (think, bug zapper). I tought that they may have programmed in some sort of auto cleaning, but then there would be moving parts. In short, I think that this is a money sink, something that sounds like a good idea to get investors, but in the end won't be really usable (think: Phantom Console). We should just look into watercooling and those pads that get cold with electricity. You can only cool so much with air.

Aparantly while doing your story you didn't happen to actually look at anything in terms of which format was actually winning in terms of consumers. HD-DVD was winning by a landslide. More internet searches, and more positive things have been said about HD-DVD, than Blu-Ray. People are abandoning sony because sony has turned it's back on the people.
Not to even mention that the PS3 is a huge joke, in which gamers are laughing at. You can easily find PS3s at any wal-mart now, even two days before chirstmas. Meaning that consumers aren't backing it. Not to mention that sony is a business retard anyway. I mean think about it sony loses $300 on every console they produce. Meaning that they are losing massive amounts of money.
Meaning that they aren't selling anything. They are buying there consumers into what they think should be the way that things go. You say that sony is huge and is backing blu-ray, well microsoft is even bigger, and is backing hd-dvd. Matthew
Subject: Vista voles take on Linux penguins
Reading the responses to the Vista - Linux debate I do note a couple of things.. Most are saying they have multiple boxes, That Vista can now be transfered to another computer and that in general Vista is just spiffy...
Ok hows this for Spiffy?
Take your 4 computers, now place Vista on all of them, this will cost you Approx. $636.00 for the premium edition and $1196.00 for the Ultimate edition..
No go d/load a FREE copy of Linux.. and take a little time and go buy a how-to-run-linux book.. about $25.00 and actually learn something. Now how much did I save? Oh yeah, I also increased my value to my company, am now able to do more that my Windows box with less money.. Hmm
Yes, Vista is SO much better.. Oh yeah.. almost forgot.. I need to purchase 4 more computers to run vista!!! Ok that will cost....

As a biased home user allow me to advise you that the only reason I run Voleware was to play the latest games. Linux doesn't do that.
The economics of ownership used to be in favour of one box to do everything because although home users only use web/email, an office suite, and games, they accepted all the other gubbins because it came with the package. A package which must last a long time and not be expensive to keep current.
The increasing need to upgrade hardware to play the latest games and the introduction of Vista changes that for home users due to the new hardware requirements and the bonus DRM that comes with it. The old PC is still perfect for home office so all home users should load Linux and carry on. LINUX IS THE PERFECT OPTION FOR HOME OFFICE. No need to pay more money, it will be good for ever (almost), and you only load what you need.
Now about the games. A console, obviously, and it will cost less than upgrading to a new PC with Vista. Consider what has just happened to your PC and buy wisely. Ask questions.
Who attempted to buy up the games developers exclusively for their product ? Who likes to be the exclusive supplier of your software ? Who likes to decide when you will upgrade and what you must buy ? Yes , you've guessed, now go and buy anything but the X Box.

Your last comment is so rediculous, I estimate you're probably too young to be writing articles. Do us all a favor and go back to working at McDonalds.

Subject: VOLE
Can't you write something without using the word VOLE just about everywhere ? do you say VOLE in your sleep ?
In the dictionary ,the word Vole doesn't have a meaning that can be used in your writing. Are you talking to yourself, or if you want us to understand what you are saying ?
You seem to think that everyone would know what you are talking about when you use those strange words, ( too many of them )
Don't think that ,because you're from england, you can rewrite the dictionary. Please stop using the word VOLE everywhere, unless you don't care if many peoples don't know what you are talking about. And those words about ATI, AMD, Nvidia.. get real and say it the way it should.. It would be as if we don't know what VOLE mean ( or any of those 5 - 6 words that you use) we would be stupid not to know the meaning and it is up to us to try to find out , even if the dictionary is of no help. I think i've red the word VOLe about 10 times in 3 days.

The world will eventually be full of PS3s, but they'll all be on the shelves waiting for some rich kid to come by and pick one up. Seriously, who wants to spend $600 on something that doesn't offer much more than the Xbox360?
And don't forget, Sony was the creator of BetaMax and ATracks, it's likely history will just repeat itself with the BluRay format. The might control most of Hollywood, but HDDVD is still backed by almost half of the movie industry, and most of the PC industry.
