New Nintendo DS coming in 2009

Console round-up Whilst GP2X gets release date
Monday, 8 September 2008, 11:30

GAMEPARK IS TO release its new GP2X in October, much to the relief of retro-gamers everywhere.

Crunchgear has the full low-down on the console.

Xbox 360
There have been major Japanese price cuts for the Xbox 360 this week, with prices being slashed to near-nothing.

The US too, got large discounts, as previously stated in the INQ. Prices now stand at $199 for the Arcade, $299 for the Pro, and $399 for the Elite.

Unfortunately it seems the UK price won't be getting slashed anytime soon.

PS3/PSP
Eurogamer has a full review of the PS3 Playtv add-on, for DVB PVR on your Playstation.

Joystiq has shots of the new PS3 Littlebigplanet SKU, which Sony hopes will be a big seller.

The Playstation blog has listed and priced the new PS3 bluetooth headset, here.

In an odd hybrid, the PSP has been connected to an Xbox 360 chatpad with decent results.

Wii/DS
Though Nintendo has already denied similar rumours, Kotaku has sources penning in a 2009 release for a new Nintendo DS.

The console is thought to be coming with dual-touch screens.

Eurogamer has combined its usual Wiiware and Virtual Console round-ups here. ยต

As Always

The UK gets shunned by Microsoft on a price cut when it does finally get here they'll announce another 1 for the rest of the world.

Its a panic by MS because of the x-mas period apart from GEARS 2 and Fable 2, Fallout 3 what else have they got coming out. It will sell well thou still think the Arcade should get the 20GB HDD with them and Premiuns 60GB, Elite's 120GB seems more sense really.

And why Nintendo keep releasing a new DS every 3 months is beyond me are they just going through old design plans till the 1 they wanted has been found on the pile.

DS Versions @ Dave

Nintendo has had less revisions (AFAIK) of the DS than Sony has had for the PSP.

Only two DSs: NDS and NDS Lite.
PSPs have had 3 versions: PSP-1000/2000/3000.

Granted, the GBA had three (GBA/GBA-SP/GBA-Micro) and 2-3 classic GBs: Game Boy (Heavy brick of a 4xAA devouring monster, indestructable) GB-Pocket (awesome 20 hours on 2xAAAs) and later GB-Color an updated GB classic, but I digress.

The DS has been kicking it since 2004. Five years ain't a bad run. I myself am excited that there will be two new Nintendo systems in the next two years B-).
