Prescott Celerons to have 533MHz buses

Celeron lives on, takes on new form
Tuesday, 15 July 2003, 11:52
SOURCES CLOSE to the heart of the matter tell the INQ that when Intel releases Prescott Celerons in the first half of next year, the chips will support 533MHz front side buses.

And the Prescott Celerons, when they roll off the production lines, will be supported by the world+dog's current Springdale and Canterwood VRM 10.0 boards.

Which will be good news if you've bought a Springdale and a Canterwood board and want to replace a Pentium 4 with a cut-down Prescott Celeron.

The news also confirms that Intel will press on with its Celeron strategy, which has made oodles of money for it since the year dot.com.

The Celeron is sort of the equivalent of those spiritual teachers that re-incarnate. It might have a completely different form on the outside, but inside it's 100% Intel Marchitecture. µ
