Kid converts dead PCs for the poor

Who needs wind-ups?

FIFTEEN year old Jacob Komar has rescued 1,500 PCs from rubbish bins and re-cycled them for needy families.

According to ABC News, Komar started giving old PCs a new life since the age of nine and is now running a charity to give the poorest families recycled computers.

He said it all started when he was visiting his sister's elementary school and found out that they were throwing away a whole lab of computers just because they were outdated.

He thought it as a bit of a waste as there were kids that don't have computers at home. He asked if he could take those computers and fix them up, whatever they need done to them, and then give them to kids at the school who could use them.

Initially he refurbished about two computers a week. One of the hardest jobs was giving the things away because at nine years old he was really shy.

He has set up an organisation "Computers for Communities," has distributed more than 1,500 computers.
