PC World editor quits

Told to be nice to Apple

PC WORLD Editor-in-Chief Harry McCracken has quit after claims his new boss Colin Crawford, tried to kill a 'nasty' story about Apple and Steve Jobs.

The jokey piece "Ten Things We Hate About Apple" had not made it to a page when Crawford killed it off. It seems to have been replaced by a piece entitled Top 25 web hoaxes.

According to Wired, Crawford told other editors that they are being to nasty to vendors especially those who advertise in his rags.

McCracken apparently told him "no way", or words to that effect, and walked off the job.

McCracken told Wired that he quit because of fundamental disagreements with Crawford. He said that he was not fired or forced out and holds no ill feelings toward the company.
