THE BOSS of Xerox says she wants to move the company away from just photocopying and become an information services outfit.

Xerox chairman and CEO Anne Mulcahy says she is prepared to buy consultancies in a bid to make her cunning plans come true.

In an interview with Information Week, here, Mulcahy says she wants her "document company" to become more like an IT services firm.

She is planning a range of back-office products including office automation, content management, and business-consulting services.

She was speaking as the company released DocuShare 4 which is supposed to improve company document archiving and retrieval capabilities. Of course Xerox has had the product kicking around for a while is no indication of this brave new direction that Mulcahy is taking the company. µ
