Microsoft changes the way you vote

Democracy, Vole has heard of it
Mon Jun 18 2007, 07:56
SOFTWARE giant Microsoft is so miffed at the way punters in New York State have been voting lately, it has been trying to change election law.

New York State had adopted some of the strictest regulations regarding the new electronic voting systems in the US. Its voting machines which New York State law requires be powered by escrow software and the software open for review.

But Vole does not want to do that and instead of leaving the field to someone else, it is trying to change the law.

Volish attorneys drafted an amendment which would effectively render current requirements for escrow and the ability for independent review of source code in the event of disputes completely meaningless.

Its lobbyists have managed to slip the amendment into the bill at the last minute in the hope it will not be noticed. It will be voted on today or tomorrow.
