Hardware Roundup Update on Shuttle SFF
Monday, 20 June 2005, 11:47
WE'VE GOT a bad link in yesterday's article with respect to the article from HardOCP on the latest Shuttle SFF. I've also got an email from Shuttle's UK PR which tells me that HardOCP was not as negative Hmmm. Either it's me or I don't understand words - Kyle and his friends used words like frustration, confusion, horrible, terrible. flaky, piece of junk, doorstop, quirky and unstable. Maybe, it's only one review that's gone wrong. But it was on the wrong website. Read the review and decide for yourself. We would be more than please however to test one of those SFFs if Shuttle would like to get our POV. Also the proper link to the XPS2 review from Trustedreviews is here.

AMDzone reviews the DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLI-DR motherboard. It comes with all the delicacies that you would expect to come from one of the most famous range of Athlon 64 motherboards. We've already had a look at its features many times before. Apart from the limited software bundle - you won't buy it for that, there's nothing that goes against it.

Firing Squad compares the X300SE Hypermemory to the Geforce 6200 Turbocache to see which of these DirectX 9.0 card is the better of the two. They should have included the Radeon Xpress 200 for comparison.

Extremtetech reviews three SATA II hard disk drives frm Samsung, Western Digital and Hitachi. SATA II brings in some notable improvements to first generation SATA drives - twice the transfer rate, NCQ support combined with some improvements like a larger platter and a cache. Also throwed in for comparison is a Western Digital Caviar RAID edition.

VR-zone tests the Aopen i915GMm-HFS motherboardwhich is the latest in the Aopen range of Pentium M boards. Its features are that of a high P4 class board - Support from DVI, D Sub, HDTV and Video Out, SATA II and SATA, twin GbE and Firewire as well as eight USB 2.0. They were able to overclock at 2.26GHz Pentium M to 2.65GHz "confortably" but would still like to get more.

Xtremeresources checks the 1A-Cooling Blacklord 240 which is a high end water cooler. Xtremeresources is quickly becoming one of the more complete websites for those looking for extreme cooling solution. The 1A is not for the faint hearted and come with all the attractions that justify its high price. Good performance and quite innovative. But limited availability and pricey.

UK website BIOSmagazine tests the Epson Picturemate 500 which is cute photo quality printer with a flip up LCD monitor and quite an improvement upon the previous one. It comes with a handle and portable battery pack which makes it ideal for those roving around. Quality is as good as you would get from film - when viewed at arms length. µ
