Charlie scouts out products

SEAGATE JUST CAME OUT with a 8.25 inch disc using new lightweight but extremely tough materials. We told you about it yesterday, but now we have a picture to go with it. Wow, blue laser DVDs have nothing on the lift of this beauty.

If you want to watch a movie while playing disc golf, Eyetop has the solution for you. They released two new things, the Eyetop DVD ( ) and the Eyetop Pure Lens ( here). The DVD is just that, a DVD player made for the Eyetop Centra VR/HUD/whatever glasses. You can watch movies anywhere with these.

The Pure Lens is a set of replacement lenses for the Centra, instead of the usual dark sunglasses, you can have stylish colors. It comes in Crystal, Aquamarine and Ruby. Fab dahling.

Moving from video to audio, we come to Jazz Speakers. It is introducing a lot of new products at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair in a week or so, a couple of which really caught my eye. The first is the the USB OTG Speaker for MP3. These portable speakers take any USB OTG compliant memory stick and play MP3s or WMA files from it. Plug, play, pun, pun. Neat idea.

The other one that caught my eye is the AM/FM Radio. Yes, a simple desk radio in a wooden case, remember them? It features a line in for just about anything you want, but that is about it. A simple radio, when was the last time you saw one of those?

We close out today's miscellaneous bits with the Soltec QBIC EQ3901 mini barebones system. This shoebox form factor PC supports 939 pin Athlon64s, has a VIA K8T800Pro chipset, and a 300w PS. It sports all the usual bells and whistles, SATA, Gig-E, and RAID, but strangely no 802.11, even as an option. It looks like a solid entry into a still rather sparse field of 939 pin shuttle boxes. ยต
