We7 offers free, legal music downloads

Peter Gabriel plays music without frontiers
Fri Apr 13 2007, 14:33
THE MUCH-BALLYHOOED theory that legitimate music downloads will go to a free, ad-sponsored model has thus far failed to materialise but believers can get a taste of the concept at the new We7 site.

There are only samples available on the site at present but We7 is canvassing opinion and the site's backers, including Peter Gabriel*, want INQ readers to visit, in advance of future additions such as community features. µ

Also, if you've got a band, let We7 know and you could feature on the site. µ

* Before hitting solo paydirt, Gabriel was the singer for Genesis in the old days when dressing up in a daisy costume was seen as your standard stage threads.
