Intel confirms chip recall

But limited numbers
Tuesday, 9 August 2005, 14:51
CHIP GIANT Intel confirmed it had recalled a batch of chips but said it was due to defects in the heatsink rather any problems with the processor.

It also said the batch was of a very limited number. Although a representative wouldn't be drawn on the number recalled, our understanding is that it could affect only a hundred or so.

The batch number is 3502A770, for SKU (stock control unit) Pentium 4 3.73MHz 2MB cache chips with a 1066MHz bus.

The batch has been given a returns number and Intel is providing full refunds on the product. ยต
