Russian PC firm dumps Intel in favour of AMD

'Ancient' Pentium replaced with 64-bits

A RUSSIAN PC maker, Formoza, said it is to dump Intel Pentium 4 processors in favour of 64-bit chips from rival AMD.

Formoza said 80 percent of its PCs will now feature AMD's Athlon 64 chips.

Branding Intel's chips, "ancient" the company said it will now only supply them to corporate customers on insist on having them.

Formoza's relations with Intel have a bumpy history, with industry watchers suggesting the move is a case of sour grapes following a long-running dispute over Fomoza's status as a chip-shop.

A company spinner admitted to "rather cold" relations with Intel but claimed that had nothing to do with its snuggling up to AMD. µ
