Pirate Bay commandeers anti-piracy domain name

And another band walks
Mon Oct 15 2007, 19:20

PIRATE BAY has taken over IFPI.com, the domain name of the music industry's anti-piracy organisation, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

The Swedish bit torrent file sharing group says the domain name will now host the newly-formed International Federation of Pirate Interests.

In other news, rumor has it that Led Zeppelin is the latest band to abandon its contract with a big music company over disgust with the RIAA.

More about the lost domain name is here. µ

Not quite enough money yet...

Led Zeppelin are not dumping their minder, they are just letting them sell their music via itunes and as ring tones (previously they didn't allow it).

In fact they are renewing their contract with Warner for another 10 years, says the times...

Apparently they haven't made enough to live off comfortably yet.

Misleading...

This is slightly misleading... IFPI.org still belongs to them, Pirate Bay merely grabbed the IFPI.com domain. Humorous still, indeed.

Do you think the move was justified?
