ATI has new entry-level chip for Vista

X1050 is the name
Wednesday, 6 December 2006, 14:26
ATI HAS a new chip that is set to replace the X300 and X550 chips on the market. It will be clocked at 400MHz core and 666MHz memory. It supports both 64- and 128- bit memory interfaces.

The chips are expected this month. We heard that these very cheap cards will be just enough for Vista and this is the main reason they exist.

This market is ATI's last stronghold and the frim is not willing to give it away that easily. OEMs will certainly like this chip. We don't know what chip is behind the marketing name but we will try to figure that out. ยต
