Intel sues Intel Logistics over, er, Intel name

Blizzard goes both ways
Fri Jul 08 2005, 17:51
THERE'S YET MORE work for the Intel lawyers, faced as they are with an apparent blizzard of class actions popping up all over the place.

But this time it's Intel that's suing a Texas corporation called Intel-Logistics over alleged trademark infringement. The case was filed in a Houston district court at the beginning of the month.

By combining "Intel" with the generic word "Logistics", the firm is causing confusion that Intel sources or sponsors Intel-Logistics' freight handling services, alleges Chipzilla in the suit.

Intel wants Intel-Logistics to stop doing this and stop doing it right now.

Intel-Logistics is based in Houston and acts as a broker for the transportation of goods and cargo, and also forwards freight and engages in third party logistics.

Intel-Logistics has a web site, here, and Intel wants Intel-Logistics to stop using that as well. Intel-Logistics, motto: "...makin' smarter moves", has been in business since 1993, according to that site.

Intel is accusing Intel-Logistics of "passing off". It wants damages and it wants the Intel-Logistics web site. ยต
