Dozens of bugs fixed
Thu Apr 20 2006, 09:16
SOFTWARE GIANT Microsoft has released its first service pack for SQL Server 2005.

The pack fixes 40 bugs which have been found in the five months since the product hit the shelves.

It also incorporates several new features, including a production-ready database mirroring function to protect the database if the whole lot goes belly up.

Vole has also added better support for SAP's business intelligence software which will allow reports to be created and managed from inside an SAP Business Warehouse data warehouse. SP1 also includes has a peer-to-peer-like technology for transactional replication.

SQL Server 2005 was Vole's bid to get serious about storeage software. It has not really taken off yet because most companies wait until such products have been out a while before buying them. Usually after the first service pack, such products start to be taken up in Ernest (which when think is a small US mid-western town).

It can be downloaded here. µ
