Wednesday, 12 December 2007, 13:20

EUROCRATS at the European Commission said they had no objection to Sony Ericsson flogging half of software developer UI Holdings to rival phone firm, Motorola Inc.

The rubber stampers seem to think that the pair won't collaborate to stitch anyone up by co-owning a firm, even though they are supposed to be competitors

The pair has also refused to disclose what wonga will change hands in the deal.

UI Holdings is the parent company of UIQ Technology AB, which licenses open platforms to mobile phone firms.

UIQ Technology says it will remain vendor and chipset independent with technology available to license across the whole industry. ยต
