Intel attempts dragging quad core Clovertown into 2006

RELIABLE SOURCES said that even though Intel's commit date for its quad core Clovertown microprocessor is in the first quarter of 2007, it is pulling out all the stops to release it in Q4 of this year.

The reason for this is that Intel wants to cock a snook at AMD and show that now it's capable of executing on its plans, and doing so swiftly.

There's already Clovertown silicon and while Intel is promising nothing to its partners, it feels that being able to release a quad core in Q4 will be quite a coup.
