Intel leads the pack at 65nm, having been using it for a while, while AMD hopes to move to teh shrunked die by the end of the year.
Now we hear that TSMC is ready to move to the tiddly process. It is not ready to put the top notch complex chips such as graphics chips R600 or G80, but the firm is able to start producing less complex chips at 65nm.
We learned that chips such as the upcoming RD600 can be manufactured at the 65 nanometre marchitecture, and this means more chips per wafer, less heat and a smaller die with more transistors. RD600 is expected in a few weeks now - but not in a 65nm form.
The real 65 nanometre graphics chift is expected in 2007 and until then you will have to enjoy the 90 and 80 nanometre chips. µ
