El Jobsworth pops up in Blighty

Here to close the Iphony deal?
Tue Jul 10 2007, 11:23
HIS SIR APPLENESS El Steve of Cappuccino was spotted browsing around the Apple Store in London over the weekend.

Jobs added to his carbon footprint by flying in to town on his own private jet, a Gulfstream which he leases to Apple. He spent some time on Regent Street having a poke around the company's flagship European store.

His rare appearance on these shores has prompted renewed speculation that Apple is close to signing a deal with a UK carrier for the Iphone. Previously, journalists have tipped all four major UK networks for the deal, in a handy game which means at least someone is guaranteed to be proven right.

Apple's Regent Street store is scheduled to hold a special event next Monday, and all indications - that is, none whatsoever aside from wild speculation - are that Jobs will announce the UK Iphone deal there.

As usual, keep reading the gossip and praying that it all comes true soon. µ
