Sky Plus goes mobile

Free scheduling via your phone
Fri Jul 07 2006, 09:59
SKY WENT live with a free service called 'Sky+ Remote Record' that allows you to schedule your Sky+ satellite set-top-box to record programmes using your mobile phone.

Subscribers to the new service can choose the programmes to record via a SMS request or by browsing the seven-day television guide on their phone via a downloadable application from Sky's website. Sky's service then contacts the Sky+ STB using the box's phone connection.

An internet-based scheduler should be available soon, similar to what TiVo PVR's have provided their customers for some time.

Sky said that the new mobile phone application will be available on their website soon and will work with all versions of Sky+, including the new Sky HD box. µ
