Stonking quad-R300 graphics card sports 1GB of RAM

THE 64,000-BIT QUESTION, at least for now, is who is faster, ATI or Nvidia? Or, rather, let's say their partners who actually sell cards with their chips. In fact, the truth is that neither the Radeon 9800XT nor the Geforce FX 5950 Ultra is the fastest card on market.

A few days ago our friends at Darkcrow sent us the astonishing specification of what we believe could be a faster bit of hardware, based on recently-discovered fifth generation chips. And this is built for one institution that simply doesn't care about the cost of the solution.

Nah, not Hollywood. We are talking about the military, the US military, of course, which reckons it does need this visualization solution.

This 4-chip card sports a quartet of R300s, that are also known as the chips that power Radeon 9700 PRO cards, and each of these chips can address up to 256MB of Memory making this card one of the few one that have 1GB of Ram.

simFUSION 6000q System is the name on the card and it can go up to 24X in Anti-aliasing which is three times more then any gamer card. The mission of this card is to make simulations in various situations and this arrangement can generate some very nice and photo-realistic graphics, we suggese. Evans & Sutherland uses them for simulations of helicopters and Panzers.

Cards like this can be used in peace as well and flight companies have the dough to afford one of these incredibly expensive systems.

Just wonder how many 3dmarks03 you would be able to get with this and how Max Payne 2 would run with 24X FSAA. Bloody fast that's for sure.

This reminds us that Nvidia also has contract with the military, where Nvidia sells 3D Quadro chips for F22 fighters, through its chip shop Quantum.
