Hello Sendo! You work for Moto!

Engineers must begin to delight customers
Thursday, 30 June 2005, 08:54
* THE ADMINISTRATORS released a statement this morning confirming Sendo International Ltd, Sendo Holdings plc, and Sendo Limited were in administration. Although 170 group employees are transferred to Motorola, 30 employees "largely from the sales team" have unfortunately been made redundant.

SENDO EMPLOYEES acquired by Motorola have received a "Hello Moto" letter from their new employees, as the US giant moves to consolidate its surprise acquisition.

See Sendo goes into administration, Motorola buys it.

As we reported yesterday, Motorola snapped up the Sendo engineers and a good patent portfolio after the British company went into administration.

The engineers will be integrated into Motorola's mobile devices business, with its headquarters in Libertyville, Chicago.

Sendo-apos-s-ill-fated-z100-phoneMotorola has told its own staff that buying the Sendo R&D group is good for shareholders and for its customers. Motorola executives will come see their new employees in early July.

But if the Sendo employees are worrried about having to move from Birmingham to Libertyville, or even Basingstoke, they don't have to worry, yet. However, employees who don't want to work for Motorola will be considered to have quit their jobs, while if they stay it means their Ts&Cs don't change.

Sendo employees are now allowed to tell their friends and families, but of course not chat about confidential corporate information. If they're asked questions by a pesky hack or hackette, that should be referred immediately to a corporate Moto PR spinner. The Sendo boys and girls in Birmingham will report to Rash Sahota in Europe.

Sendo employees by now know that Motorola is driven by dual core values which are "Customer Delight" and "Innovation Leadership". Motorola employees love going to work every day because they know they'll be able to delight customers. Also, Motorola, as the world+dog knows, is "seamless inside", and employees are "brand ambassadors".

It is good the engineers have kept their jobs, and Motorola picks up some good Smartphone tech from little Sendo although we do wonder if it hadn't been involved in that terrible deal with Microsoft whether things wouldn't have worked out a little better for all concerned. ยต
