PhysX on ATI marchitecture
A MAD POSTER on the NGOHQ forums who goes by the name of Regeneration, claims to have hacked Nvidia’s Physx driver to bits and got it running on ATI hardware. Will the madness never end?
The post shows a screen grab of CPU-Z, the Ageia driver settings and 3D Mark Vantage with a score of 22606 CPU marks… something only attainable through Nvidia’s use of the PhysX driver within Vantage. Regeneration promises a vid of the card performing at the enhanced performance, soon.
If this did happen, Nvidia would be mightily miffed as the money it threw into acquiring Ageia would be for naught and so would its whole PhysX and CUDA marketing strategy.
Legal eagles are likely to swoop down on whoever is attempting such a deed without ponying-up a license, and legally bash him/her into submission. ATI is highly unlikely to buy into a PhysX deal, even if it is proven possible, as the company already has its own Havok-based (yes, Intel) strategy in high gear.
The question, come to think of it, is: are we actually losing anything in not having PhysX on ATI cards, considering the number of titles that support it?

its more bloatware furrrrrrkin nuisance, this carp installs (100 meg +) with any game that supports it, WTF you want it for when your running an ATI card, any work been done to find out if it actually slows up an ATI rig ?? O_o 

it wouldnt surprise me if it wasnt checking back home every 5 mins either, nobody NEEDS this non event !!!!

By Time its' through, both ATI & Nvidia will be running Next Generation of Graphics Software Base. It takes GUTS to Slap Multi Billion $ forgiener in kahoots, Yet Resurgency did it. its same old game, HOW did regenerations do it? Yeah or they fall Divergent.

Is it just me, but i can't make sense to the 3 previous posts. Nor can i read any relevance to the article from the 3 previous posts.
It is highly likely that Radeon 3870 can not work with PhyX in game. What is required is a method to dynamically allocate some resources to non graphics tasks (either time slice it or space slice it, or a mix of both). 3870 is developed at a time that no one thought Sw would want control of the processors individually. It is possible to run Physx when graphics is off, but it is highly likely impossible to run Physx when graphics is on. In this case, 3870 support of Physx is a true cheat to only get high score in CPU test.

Nvidia promised to let 8800 serious to work with Physx and yet ATI is not promising anything yet. I won't bet my money on that Radeon 3870 will support Physx earlier than green team's 8800

hi ATI are not helping but there will be a release of this software, yes Nvida Bought the Idea from PhysX but does not mean someone can mod or change the source code. i have had PhysX working on my HD3870 CF GFX system and it does work but at all moments its unstable and crashes but give it time and it will be Resolved. unforchanitly its dont been tested on the HD4000 Series.
