ABDICATING software King of the World, Sir William Gates III might be a tad grumpy about the way Vista has gone.
In a fairly frank interview with Gizmodo, Gates was asked if he thought there any Microsoft product that "could have had more polish."
It is fairly clear that the interviewers thought that they would get a confession that Vole ME was crap, or that Gates' Missus should not have been able to play with Microsoft Bob.
Instead Gates replid: "Ask me after we have shipped the next version of Windows”.
The implication is fairly obvious. Bill thinks that Vista could have had more polish when it hit the shops. He can't say so now because that would undermine Vista's already flagging sales.
Gizmodo is over egging the pudding a bit when it claims it got Gates to say that 'Vista sucks''. What does it think it is, the INQUIRER?
See for yourself here. µ
I think the biggest problem with Vista was that they made a 32bit version that most of the oems went for.

The 64bit version works brilliantly. There are a few annoiances that need to be turned off, but as a whole it works much better than XP.

I'm not too keen on the whole aero side of things, but all the other features are awesome.

Everything just worked. I only had a problem with 1 game and that was rectified with new drivers.

I really don't know what the fuss is all about. The people making the biggest noise are the Linux users who wouldn't use a Microsoft product in any case.

I will admit I found the 32bit version to be very slow and less stable than the 64bit, but once I switched to 64bit, I haven't looked back.
it took me 5 minutes to figure out that a video is supposed to appear.

it didn't because i'm using firefox, while its working fine under IE

is gizmodo IE only?

It worked fine on Firefox for me. Do you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed? Are you blocking flash using an extension?
Do you have NoScript installed, it work fine for me under seamonkey once I temporarily allowed gawker.
No video here on IE7, either.. who wants to see ads anyways???

LOL.. I love the INQ's quirky sense of humor!!!! That's why I keep coming back and reading it because it always lifts my spirits.
@mr C:
The video on Gizmodo is in Flash so it has nothing to do with IE or FF. Just like on YouTube and millions of other online videos.

Apparently FF has gone mainstream.
I PITY FOOL THAT DOSN'T USE VISTA ULTIMATE 64 BIT. To stream You will need IE7 32 bit, Worlds just that behind.

Remember AMD makes units that allow Telcos Worldwide to be compatible with ALL Equipment, so at each turn compromises are made, Firefox is for those using duron 800 Mhz or other out of date stuff, perfect example of not up to date engineering & you surely don't want that for operating system interaction with hardware, its hardware problem now as too many XPunits still exist to motivate sellers, yet Ultimate is best desktop,
Server, home or 2008 are just not media software. Use Vista Ultimate if you can find compatible hardware, as NT6 is next step, theres NO turning back.

FF 2.0, even with adblock enabled..
It works for me on Firefox! (running version 2.0.0.11)
My guess: you just don't have the flash plugin installed in FireFox. Works fine for me. (FF 2.0.0.1; XP SP2; Flash 9 installed.)
The video works with Firefox just fine - it just doesn't automatically because you're smart and you use NoScript. The trick is that you need to tell NoScript to permit Gawker, which is where the video is actually hosted.

That part is just sheer greatness I've had a bad day at college and reading that was great.

Nothing better then hearing british humor on slaggin yourself off but taken down someone who's trying to steal the crown.

As for VISTA been crap my college lecturer thinks so and he works for Cisco/Microsoft so thats nice hearing that.
