The problem with political jokes is they get elected - Henry Cote
As we reported last week, the independent site decided to disappear itself after a contract ran out at the weekend. The general forum and the technical forum were very rich seams to mine for anyone interested in technology.
Plus you didn't have all that associated rubbish like smiley faces and the like.
Also, Ace's was venerable and nearly 10 years old which is a long time in Interweb terms.
We're told there's a fair chance that the site may come back, but it should never really have gone away. As it was one of the rare sites that used Sun technology, really we'd have thought Intel or AMD could have given Brian some hosting support rather than throw away oodles of money on logos on Formula One cars.
Or maybe even Sun, for crying out loud.
Heck, hosting is so cheap these days the people on its forums could easily have chipped in and kept it going. We guess "community" is drowned out by Web 2.0 and twittering as we near the close of the first decade of the 21st century.
Thankfully there's a temp forum, pro tem, here. µ
