Google’s product manager, Peter Birch announced this news yesterday on his blog.

Since Google Earth’s launch for desktops in 2005, 400 million downloads of the application have been made globally.

Now Google has spread its virtual wings to reach the ever-growing mobile audience, making this application a free download from the Itunes App Store.

Navigating Google Earth on your Iphone or Ipod Touch involves sliding your finger across the screen to navigate the globe and zooming in and out by tapping your finger once or twice respectively.

You can also access over eight million Panoramic (geo-located) photos and tilt your Ithingy as the world tilts with you.

Users will have access to the same local search as the full version of Google Maps, enabling searches for adresses, businesses, and landmarks.

Alongside all of these original features Google has added a "search near me" feature to find businesses near your location, without having to navigate there first or type in the name of the city.

LATE !!

Windows Mobile already got this, and a lot more applications are available for WM. I will wait for WM 7.

Behind... You've got that right!

I'm surprised they didn't get this sooner. I've been able to use it on my phone forever it seems.

What have they been using before this???
