CHIP FIRM VIA said it is ready to release its PT880 chipset, and firms like Asus, Gigabyte and MSI and others
will use it.
The chipset includes support for dual channel DDR 400 memory, an 800MHz front side bus, hypethreading, AGP8X and the rest.
The dual memory controller - dubbed Dual Stream - will give 4,800MB/s bandwidth, Via claimed, and includes a chipset interconnect link of 1066GB/s with its 8237 south bridge chip.
It supports two Serial ATA drives, four IDE devices, RAID 0, 1 and 0+1, plus Via's "Vinyl" audio support for six and eight channels.
The chipset also supports 10/100 Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and eight USB 2.0 ports. ยต
