Microsoft offers South Africa cheap internet connections

SOFTWARE giant Microsoft has inked a deal with South African cellular operator to offer cheap Internet connections in the country.

The big idea is to provide affordable options for consumers who purchase Internet connectivity and a personal computer running Microsoft's Windows starter edition software.

Microsoft thinks that one of the biggest problems for telecommunications growth in South Africa is the high connectivity costs. Microsoft supremo Bill Gates, who is in South Africa at the moment, said that wireless broadband technology was the key to fixing the problem.
