OCZ claims record for water-cooled Flex II DDR2

4GB of geekiness
Friday, 11 April 2008, 10:13

OCZ TECHNOLOGY has unveiled a 4Gb pack of Flex II memory, aimed at those speed-freaky deep-pocketed enthusiasts everyone down the pub likes to hang out with.

The slivers of DDR2-1150 chippery are made for water-cooled systems and have their own little pipe connectors with which to keep the blighters cool and unscorched.

An integrated liquid injection system OCZ calls it. And if that doesn't send a frisson of excitement through your trousers when you're standing hand on wallet in your local bijou PC boutique, you're not the enthusiast you thought you were.

Water-palaver

OCZ reckons its Flex II 4GB K PC2-9200 can be pumped up faster than anything else out there.

Michael Schuette, VP of Technology Development at OCZ Technology said, “The thermal power is addressed using what we believe is the most advanced memory cooling solution* currently available, suited for either liquid or air cooling system configuration to unleash the full power of 4 GB of DDR2 at the highest possible frequency.” µ

2 Gbs Stick = EOL

No chance for 4gbx1. DDR3 is where the R&D is at.

Me and me blokes at me pub reckons

that a smart r·e·aming of these blighters are in the pipe·line for folks who sh·ive-a-g·it. Me bar-keep was just bewaiL'Inq the cost and reckons he'll wait until his long-lost Uncle Bob becomes First Lord of the Treasury over at Whitehall (but that chap's a poor mouth).
These sticks are not a bad investment. After they're obsolete, you can use them as a comb, or mod them into a flask, or both. I reckon when they launch the 8 Gb kit (4Gb x2) for the reaper series in DDR3 200000+ sporting additional TEC ceramics, I'll have to pony up too, keeping up with those speed-freaky deep-pocketed enthusiast-INQ'sters, such as Paul, Stew, Charlie, and Nebo. The only downside is: if these FlexArghible chill-sticks springs a leaky, then yer memory will be getting a mite rusty. Daftnitely no recommended for those surferers with ar·thrit·ic encephalitis.

*Argh

Or you could dissolve something in the water to make it an incorporating-integrated-cooling-solution-solution solution.
