Firm starts paying US programmers Indian salaries

Flooded with enquiries

A REPORT SAID that a US CEO has had the bright idea of offering US programmers the kind of money Indian software developers get paid.

And he has been flooded with people applying for jobs.

According to Business Week, Jon Carson of cMarket didn't want to outsource work to India, despite the massive cost savings it might entail.

But one day a light bulb lit up in his noddle and he decided to offer Americans jobs but at Indian salaries.

Well, 10% more than Indian salaries, but you get the idea.

He advertised in a Boston newspaper for contract work that paid $45,000 a year. And Bob was his uncle and Fanny was his aunt.

Here.

This could be the thin end of the wedge. It's not just programmer jobs that are being outsourced to India. Accountants jobs are also fleeing the North American continent for pastures new. µ
