Quote of the week: Blimey, a thread I haven't posted in - RedBaron

Lots of random wibbling this week, which made it hard for those of us busy at work to catch up with the important happenings in the Cave. The threads below, in no particular order, are the ones that seemed important when artificially enhanced by Marston's Pedigree.

Word association: 4441 witty and succinct posts. Nearly all on topic.

Happy Christmas A seasonal subject for this thread allowed all the "Bah humbugs" to be got over and done with

Deliverance A discussion of various organisations that deliver food to you progressed quite naturally into news of the system upgrade at Skaffman's work place. Look here to see him being unbearably smug

Anyone heard of Will Durst? No. This is notable only for it's brevity and ability to stay on topic.

The Two Towers is definitely the film that everybody wants to see (again)

Everything I learned about computers I learned from the movies.. is essential reading for anybody who wants a career in IT, but doesn't want to spend a year watching DVDs.

Yule OOFG began the week in the usual state for a thread where Londoners try to organise a drinking session in a hostelry. Fortunately a consensus of Saturday 28th seems to have been reached by about post 115. Meanwhile the West Midlands crowd had organised theirs, been to it, returned and sobered up...

San Andreas rip shocka reveals that California is likely to shrink sooner than expected, comments on the War Against Terror and mentions the next upgrade to the forum software. The only disappointing thing is that it took 12 posts to do this. I'm sure we can do better.

Beer alert begins with Spinola explaining why beer is bad for you. Then naturally progresses to seabirds and how to colour-balance a video projector. Tigger dragged it back to the original topic by trying to persuade us all to buy more beer. That lad could sell ice to the Arabs if he wanted to.

Advent discussed how that Jamie Oliver is alright really, and that eating snails is OK. Don't know what came over them all, but normal service appears to have resumed now.

Guards! Guards! tells us that the BBC have launched a new radio station where they can put all their best material. Naturally this is only available on-line or through digital receivers. Those of you who can receive it will be upset to know that you've missed the radio adaptation of Guards! Guards!

Other news this week:

Spinola hates Lotus Notes more than his lack of broadband.

Flashman has left for a forced sabbatical in the Real World™ until the New Year. He expects to get lots of reading done and renew his acquaintance with Mrs F

Hermit: Hmmmm, sounds like a case Spinolas Spinnozza!!!!!! Lord, have you been drinking adequate fluids of the appropriate sort? Did you take a couple of shots?
I'm getting a cute little ankle biter that's selling cameras. Gah. At least you're getting something different. What part of earth are you calling from?
Seattle dropped off the face of the earth for a bit. Thought maybe they had bombed it as was mooted about in another thread. No luck, it's back.
