Microsoft goes super-sized

Brings back the Plus pack
Fri Jan 18 2008, 11:27

REMEMBER THE OLD Microsoft Plus packs for Windows? Well, just when you thought they'd died, along with Windows ME, the MS Plus pack is back with a vengeance - and a stunning 'four games in one!'

Cast yourself back to bygone days. The Windows 98 Plus! (sic) pack included a fantastic organic art 3D screensaver, Zip file integration with Explorer, Spider Solitaire, and a Start Menu cleanup utility. Plus! for XP included more desktop themes, an MP3 converter, 3D visualisations for Windows Media Player and a couple of games.

According to this listing, Plus for Vista is now on its way. The pack is due out on February 15 and includes better Tablet PC technology (no doubt of use to both of the potential users) and some additional Media Center capabilities. And, as the box announces, it's also got four casual games enhanced for Vista.

Does this seem a little bit rich to anyone else, given the complete lack of Windows Vista Ultimate Extras? Why give away something you promised for free when you can charge for it, eh? µ

Did you take a look before writing the rant? No.

Obviously this Plus Pack is meant to be used with Windows Vista Home Basic and is a kind of Upgrade. Taking a look at the product for 2 seconds makes that very clear. But why bother with facts if you can write one of those oh-so-well-written flamebaits about Microsoft again, eh Wily?

Its E.G. of possibilities, NOT Final Product.

Don't You ALL Love Media Center? Oh, You don't have that. Well, Spamon fishing Brownie or Hummingbird are just examples of what YOUR Corporation could install for Background, Like Rubber Burning Corvette for GM. Not as actual perfected Product. It is some Pretty Nice Stuff,EH?

For Fiber Magee, RIP Ole Blue ortry heck of cocktail of B Balanced Complex. Thanks, You Really Help MeMe.(Shes over in corner with your third child, Anyones Female.

Also SEVEN is slowed downe by Hardware Holding back, its 2011 deal now(in spite of yesterdays boosters). Siberias' SIR William & Michaels' College.

39.95!! "Have A Cigar", sez Pink.

Intel does it again! Let's make more "upgrades," that are marginally worse, and strip them down so that they will work in your PC; then we can sell you all of that upgraded capability again, we promise.

You owe it to the people. We're so happy we can hardly count.
Everybody else is just green, have you seen the chart?
...
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy
we call it Riding the Gravy Train.

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,
And their like
It's better than yours,
Damn right it's better than yours,
I can teach you,
But I have to charge!

Vista Ultimate porked my bum...

Yeah, come on MS. Before you do any shenanigans like "Plus" you need to make good on more Ultimate extra's that FUNDED a good deal of this other stuff you are developing.

Now STFU and GBTW M$.

Vista Upgrade

Reading the link posted, it looks like the program upgrades Vista Basic to Vista Home Premium. It looks like it adds Aero, Media Center, Tablet PC functionality, and desktop search. I'd imagine this is only useful to the one person who purchased a capable computer but only purchased it with Vista Basic.

Thats unbelievable

Thats the most stupid idea ever, I'm sorry - I like Microsoft but this is such a blunder.

I didn't pay for my Ultimate, but if I did - I'd be raging that they even suggested paying for 'extras' when surely ultimate users get this stuff for free!!

tho maybe its too soon.. and it is in the pipe line..

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
