HP witness destroyed PC with hammer

If in doubt, knock it on the head
Wed Sep 27 2006, 10:36
A KEY witness in a possible law case involving HP "pretexting" journos, employees and directors has smashed his PC to smithereens, the Wall Street Journal said.

The paper said an investigator into the case talked to Bryan Wagner, a man from Denver. He told an investigator that he had taken a hammer to his computer and destroyed it after getting a tip off from a relative.

alt='hamm'The tale is the latest twist in a tangle that has already seen HP lose its chairman Patricia Dunn, and will see CEO Mark Hurd quizzed by US politicians tomorrow.

The Journal said that the California attorney general issued a warrant to search Wagner's house but failed in that quest. µ

* MEANWHILE, Business Week has an exclusive interview with Hurd. He has no reason to think his job is on the line. He says it's all a matter of trust.
