Mozilla Labs experiments again

Brewing developer tools
Tuesday, 14 October 2008, 15:17

MOZILLA LABS announced yesterday the formation of a new group put together to focus on the research and development of tools for the open Web.

The Developer Tools Lab is bringing in outside forces in the form of Dion Almaer and Ben Galbraith – co-founders of the Ajaxian Experience.

A spokesmozz said, "There’s tremendous opportunity for innovation in tools that increase developer productivity, enable compelling user experiences, and promote the use of open standards.”

Almaer and Galbraith are long-time supporters of the open Web and will be working with Mozilla on the Developer Tools Lab full-time.

“I have immense respect for the crew at Moz; I couldn’t be more thrilled that they’ve invited us to join them and for the opportunity at hand,” explains Galbraith in his latest bog.

Almaer furthers the excitement by saying that, “We want to involve the entire community which is one reason that we are so excited to kick off this work at Mozilla. We believe that we have a unique opportunity to put developers first. We can build these tools in the open, with total transparency, the Mozilla way.”

Mozilla says that everything is on the table from the services to the software, “We’re looking forward to working with Web developers from around the world to create, experiment and play with new ideas”.

This project is only in the primary stages so Mozilla has warned us not to expect too much just yet. Don’t worry... we weren’t. µ
