Google opposes shareholder censorship revolt

GOOGLE'S DO NO EVIL bosses are fighting a shareholder plan to ban Internet censorship.

According to Computerworld, Google is also fighting an attempt to create a committee to review the company's policies on human rights.
The yarn has been revealed in a statement filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The statement said that the board will oppose both cunning plans, which would mean it would have to do more to develop adequate standards in dealing with authoritarian governments.

The ideas were put forward by New York City Controller William Thompson.

Other than the statement, Google has not said why it is opposing the deal. Obviously, however, the Board is concerned that it will harm its developing trade in China which has a nasty habit of jailing hacks and boggers. µ
