That's the conclusion I've come to after she broke a story last weekend about the Nevada Highway Patrol's major screw up with its radio systems by using unlicensed frequencies, much to the FCC's ire.
A mailing to CPRA members today has the headline:
BRITISH TABLOID SCOFFS
AS NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL SCRAMBLES
And adds that the Nevada State Senate has taken up the problem, which is that its Highway Patrol operates on a radio system without having obtained licences from the FCC. The Senate is scrabbling to find $16.5 million to solve the matter by June the 8th, as Eva wrote at the weekend.
If the FCC doesn't get its money, the Nevada Highway Patrol has to come off the air, leaving the highway, er, unpatrolled.
The mailing says Eva, a columnist for UK magazine the INQUIRER, "finds the matter amusing in an off hand manner".
Eva's story about the Smokie Bear SNAFU is here, while the Reno Gazette Journal has followed up her scoop here, confirming that once more, Eva's journalistic aim is unerring.
Just avoid your home town, Eva. Gee, what a girl... µ
