Nforce 4 SLI boards are nowhere found

Except in the dreams of NDA hacks
Tuesday, 14 December 2004, 02:54
DESPITE THE PROMISES Nvidia partners made, they still haven't shipped any Nforce 4 SLI chipset based motherboards. I know that many of you will say that Asus did ship its SLI motherboard but to this day you cannot buy onw anywhere. Asus did send fa ew boards to reviewers, otherwise known as the press, but that's it.

This is what we expert hacks call "hype".

On a daily basis we get many mails from readers about Nvidia's inability to deliver Nforce 4 SLI. Many of them would gladly give their Yule gift money for such a board but they still can not get one.

It seems that most of the motherboarda may show up during January or later and that most of the shipped motherboards will come with A03 silicon.

Nforce 4 SLI is not as trouble free as Nvidia wants you to believe but Nvidia is tuning it up quite fast. It performs quite well in some cases but there are still some minor glitches with the marchitecture. And lack of boards.

Customers are hungry to get Nforce 4 Ultra and Nforce 4 SLI boards as people are excited about PCIe graphic cards in Athlon 64 setups. I guess that January will be the month for that. ATI, VIA and others still failed to deliver PCIe Athlon 64 chipset.

At the eve of 2004 you can barely get one Nforce 4 SLI sample not to mention the retail boards. They are non-existent. ยต
