McAfee bites Barracuda

We're better than you, crows man
Thu Sep 27 2007, 13:39

SECURITY FIRM McAfee claimed it catches more spam, malware and wicked web wibbling sites than Barracuda does.

How does it know? It claims products from the two firms were tested by Network Testing Labs.

The Labs exposed machines to the live Interweb and "examined incoming mail by hand" to see which e-mail messages were unsolicited. We presume the Labs printed them out to do so.

McAfee's Secure Internet Gateway let 18 of the 1,834 emals through while Barracuda Spam Firewall let 110 pass through, McAfee said.

A man from Network Testing Labs said: "The Internet is like a vast pool of dirty water."

We've scoured this PDF to see if the report was commissioned by Barracuda. µ
