December 1st slated for Vista

Vole's promotional hint
Wed Feb 08 2006, 08:00
MICROSOFT has released a promotion page for Windows Vista, which invites users to guess when its super soaraway new operating system will hit the shops.

You enter your guess for a suitable date and you get a video download which hints if you are too early or late.

Vole says that if you get the right date then you will go in the draw to go somewhere in the States to pick up your software, which is better than queuing in the rain in Blighty.

Using Microsoft's super soaraway web programming it is possible to work out that Microsoft will probably release Vista on December 1 or November 30.

According to a web-developer mate of mine, the videos are stored on a Volish server in the otherwise neutral country of Switzerland and are stored in one of two sub-directories.

One of the sub-directories is called 'early' and ends in November 30 and the one called 'late' starts on December 1.

I have had to take his word for it, but if I win, I guess I owe him a drink. Have a look here. µ
