SHOPS ARE starting to heavily discount HD-DVD recorders in an attempt to reduce their stock mountains.
Don’t expect Toshiba to refund you the difference between the new prices and the old prices though – that would be a sacrifice too great for the firm to make.
According to nikkei.net, prices of HD-DVD recorders in Tokyo have dropped to the same price as ancient DVD recorders.
The same wire suggests that Toshiba has attempted to save face by announcing a huge investment in two fabs building NAND flash memory chips.
It may have saved face with investors by doing so, but the world+dog
probably just wonders what the heck NAND flash is, and couldn’t give a hoot
about a phoney war between two formats that don’t matter much anyway in the
longer view – that is to say two years down the line. µ

Veteran gamblers know too well that any result that declares absoluteness, like a “win”, is merely the novice’s view when he’s got his head stuck up his butt. Within the overall profitability map of, say, a fiscal year, you can always find a patch/snapshot that wins. That’s the zero-sum game where there is no ending or a beginning. It’s merely a circle of events. Of something that is dead whereas that which is absolute/living always has a beginning and an ending. A carbon atom has 4 valencies which, laterally/finitely, is the Alpha & the Omega and vertically/infintely, the Swastika & the Omkara. [For the Jewish, real or pretenders-to-the-throne-from-the-“East”, the Swastika is not anyone to own and therefore banish because Y millions have died. Many more have died under the Khanite’s swords, for example, and yet the Mongols, Moghuls, Pashtoons, and their genesis are alive and well. The Swastika, the sign of Innocence & Wisdom, was the banner abused by The Romans during their quest for blood and yet, every military academy study their tactics in worshipful reverence. Banishment & abuse of The Swastika, partly the result of Anglo-Saxon propaganda under the tutorship of their “chosen few” pupeteer, means deinal of Innocence & Wisdom. Witness, therefore, the progression of “Westernised” culture and it’s complete lack of chastity. The West “sins” against The Mother whereas The East “sins” against The Father].

So, the field is open for BD-ites for another round of financial slaughter/Viking-Raiding. That should keep the whores and drugs flowing in abundance until the overall profitability map decides that another coloured-ray is required. Within a circle, there are no wars, just battles. To identify Infinity/become-infinite, you first have to identify/become that which is finite. Which is? To know that we are going to have an ending [in order to kick-start Infinity which is helcal, not circular], that we are actually participating in an endless quest for nothing other than a moment’s euphoria/ecstasy/excitement for a lifetime of misery, doubt & combating. “Winners & losers”, or “achievement”, is Devolution’s way of part-binning potential winners into the losers corral.

You've got a bad case of verbal diarrhea, Sircular. What on earth are you on about?
One thing for sure, there is NO difference between blu ray & HD disc as far as picture quality is concearned. So when SHEK Engine attacks, its same image, only Navy Sinks, Bubba, bubba, bub.

@ first comment: you what?
What the..?
Social Distortion's "Winners and Losers" lyrics do a much better job than your comment, Sircular.

I'd guess you were having an "Asia" day?

Also, your personification of the noun Devolution is ambigous as to context.

If you were still referring to your having an epiphany about NAND, then I'd say "yes that is a type of Flash."
I can't say I personally have ever seen a HD DVD recorder on the store shelves. I did see a lonely HD-DVD recordable disc in the closeout bin at Staples, but never any device to actually record on it. The only ones I heard about were in Toshiba notebooks.
There will be people that feel smug because BluRay won, which is fine because it did. But keep in mind that maybe 8 or 12 years from now, BluRay will also be consigned to the dustbin of history. So, exactly the same fate as HD-DVD in the long run, just a bit later is all.

Remember: VHS won its battle too.

The first comment is obviously a response to another article.
Either that or the guy needs serious help.

In both cases, that comment is worse than useless. Please excise it forthwith.
