AMD issues Athlon 64 FX competitive comparison

Shome mishtake shurely
Mon Oct 06 2003, 11:46
OUR ATTENTION HAS been drawn by AMD Zone to a cocky little page Advanced Micro Devices has thrown up on its web site.

The page, which you can find here, is headed AMD Athlon 64 FX processor competitive comparison, and lists a number of features of its latest chipolata, such as process technology, trannies, and the like.

In the second column, AMD has "Competition currently non-existent".

Shorely shome mishtake. The competition for the Athlon 64 FX is surely the Opteron AMD introduced earlier this year. We do remember AMD officials swearing blind at a system builder conference in Monaco earlier this year that the Athlon 64 was "a completely different die" from the Opteron.

Truly, if Intel is all smoke, AMD is all mirrors. Or vice versa. ยต
