Big shot firms gang up on Google

Copyright guidance ahead
Thu Oct 18 2007, 10:47

A CABAL OF giant firms has formed to develop technologies and policies aimed at stopping Internet piracy.

The Wall Street Journal (sub needed) said Microsoft, CBS, NBC, Fox/Myspace, Viacom and Disney are supporting the plans.

Google doesn't appear to have been invited to the party.

The big idea is to block copyrighted material before it reaches a web destination, but details are sketchy about how the cabal intends to achieve this goal. ยต
