Absolutely fabulous

INDIUM, used in TFT-LCD manufacture, might run out in 10 years time, but that's not stopping massive chaebol Samsung from pressing ahead with its plans.

A report on nikkei.net said the firm is pondering a move to 10th generation LCD technology, thus skipping a generation, because the leading edge is currently Generation Eight.

What will that mean? It will mean Samsung fabs will churn out glass 3,000 millimetres by 3,200 millimetres with displays of upto 70-inches. Samsung and Sony have a joint venture to produce eye candy glass.

In reality, it is probably a little like AutoCAD switching from version number three to version number 10 in one fell swoop. They are just numbers, but only real men have fabs. µ
