What I find funny is all these people running seti etc generating a stack load of extra carbon/energy usage. When you look at it overall, is looking for little green men worth killing of all the non green ones here on our planet? SETI should have a new slogan, help find aliens, kill a human today

So much bull. Plugging the straw while the dam is leaking in their yard. They should just cancel all military flights and warming will be considerably reduced as well as the whole spectrum of UV rays -- A, B, C and now even GAMMA radiation which keep frying us from above because of ozone layer that gets destroyed by those flights.

Subject: Mum faces jail over 14-year-old daughter's downloading
Dear Sir,
I find the whole situation of P2P file sharing and people whining when they get done for copyright ludicrous. I do use P2P networks and the vast majority of my collection is material that is either demo versions, live concerts (bootlegs), or stuff that is so long out of print, that no one cares about copyright any more. This constitutes about 95% of what I have shared. Two things I find most distressing is that firstly people whine when they get caught out for downloading all the latest "hits" and I use the term very loosely, secondly that the music industry honestly believes in protecting the crap that's released these days, just reworking of older songs. P2P will always be a very grey area of the law, use it at your peril.

Subject: To Randy on "ignoracnce is a crime"
If indeed ignorance is a crime then more than half the US population should go to jail...But what am I saying? Already 9 million USans have been in jail. It seems that the only reason why not half the population is not in jail is the lack of enough prison cells. I am sorry Randy, indeed ignorance is a crime and you are a very dangerous criminal it seems.
The corporations continue targeting individuals and through their actions society itself. Corporations are commiting crimes against us all and the "law" that their protectors have created allows them to do so. No matter what they do though you can't turn back the river. We will never stop sharing intelectual knowledge and creation. Their forced capitalism will collapse one way or another.

This made me mad. We need to give bad press to "Wiggins Solicitors". Damn lawyers, we need to get this on more blogs and find information how we can email them and bitch about their insensitive practices.

See what you can do with the name of the thing, "Bisonalveus browni" 'Buys on all of us - brown eye' was the best I could come up with. Pity it's not bisupalveus "buys up" ;)
You, being a pro at this engrish thingy, should be able to come up with something a bit more fitting for the vole.
I await your interpretation.

Subject: Mum faces jail over 14-year-old daughter's downloading
I think its utter bullshit that she did not know it was illegal. First its on the news all the time. Second your getting music free off the internet that normally you have to pay for. Didnt she think for one second "Hey I wonder whether Coldplay likes the fact that I can get all their songs for free". Its obvious that she knewit was illegal and they arent picking on her. She broke the law and its like breaking into a store stealing things and then running out but ahving paint on your shoes so you leave a trail so obvious a 2 year old could find out where you went. It's pretty obvious however that she does know how to operate a computer she jsut didnt know how to cover up her downloading since that was just beyond her reach or thought. However why does Mum go to jail? thats what I'm wonering dont you people have laws that send children to jail instead of the mother who did no crime at all. Either Child should be setn to do some time or the Mother should have to pay a fee over time since she cant pay it all now and its not fair to fine the mother who didnt encourage or tell her child to download or even knew about it or maybe doesnt even kno whwat downloading is.

Just FYI...
I would like to see Carly F. spotted with the Everywhere Girl, if you can get that on camera, that would be great. It wouldn't even have to be a lewd citing for me to read the article. ;)

P.S. Please send me any extra Everywhere Girl T-shirts that you guys don't want, and don't tell me they're all gone, I know Mike hides them. :)
P.S.S. keep the gossip coming!

Subject: Dual DECT and cordless Skype phone works
Dear Inq,
Hi. While you use up valuable pixels to write about Skype gadgets - how about the logical and convenient option of using a simple Bluetooth headset with a PC...? It even makes more sense than on a cell phone.
Dennis replies: We really are talking about chalk & cheese here. The current version of Bluetooth is designed for short range communications (maximum 100 feet). It isn't too good with walls.
DECT on the other hand is designed to extend your fixed line phone. It offers around 164 feet indoors and around 984 feet outdoors. My DECT phone is so good at going through walls that I can easily use it in the pub next door.
But anyway, the whole point is that we are talking about dual use. So you'd have to carry both a Bluetooth headset and a cordless phone.
You're not the first one to enquire how good Bluetooth adapters are at going through walls. Perhaps, we'll have to test a few! ยต
