Just when you thought Compaq had finally gotten its management and organizational act rogether, along comes yet another upheaval of Texas-sized proportions.
In an internal memo entitled Transforming Compaq, Capellas is promising Interesting Times in the near term. The first shoe already has dropped: Jesse Greene, originally Compaq's CFO and more recently the firm's VP of Strategic Planning, has been given his walking papers.
Compaq's strategy and competitive intelligence groups will now report to Senior VP and CTO Shane Robison. Greene will remain in place until the end of the month, by which point SKC believes yet another round of Houston Musical Chairs will be in full force (look for Compaq to consolidate its Professional Services, Customer Services, and Financial Services groups into a single organization, and to create a brand-spanking new Solutions organization).
SKC subscribers should stay tuned for all the lurid details Real Soon Now! And as usual, you'll hear it first in Shannon Knows Compaq, the Newsletter That Takes No Prisoners. (Readers interested in securing a paid subscription to Shannon Knows Compaq are invited to send email to this address.
