Litigation is a machine which you go into as a pig and come out as a sausage - Ambrose Bierce, allegedly
Green with a website? How is this list then:
1 - power down the server
2 - power down the switch
3 - power down the router
4 - power down the modem
5 - power down the air conditioner
6 - don't build the serverroom
7 - no need for the electronics any more
8 - no need for cabling anymore
9 - tell your friends how you saved the world a bundle (you know, direct oral communication without intervening
devices)
A shorter list that effectively saves a lot more.

Subject: XP sales
The figure quoted by the Vole doesn't seem to factor in that there's about double the market size now vs. when XP struck, and it apparently also figures in all those upgrade coupons the OEMs stuck on the last of their XP-loaded boxes just prior to launch. Yawn...

Subject: Dual Core Baddies
I've done my ever so smallest part to set back AMD's quarterly gains.
After 6 years of buying AMD CPU's I've switched back to Chipzilla. Core2Duos are just too good to ignore. My last three system builds have been built on them and I see no compelling reason to shift back to AMD right now.
When friends and family ask what kind of system to get, AMD doesn't get the nod anymore. It's not just IT guys making corporate changes. Enthusiasts and gamers hold sway with allot of people who matter as well. The mind share is shifting and AMD had better unify their deal with ATI before that purchase destroys both companies.

Reading your article, one might read between the lines and infer a slight lack of respect for a fine British journalism institution. Perhaps you should clarify your position in an opinion piece?

PS: While I am a rare American who understands cockney rhyming slang, you might want to asterisk entries using it with... oh, I don't know, a wikipedia link, or something, to explain what's going on. It would be maddeningly confusing if I didn't already know what's going on.
Subject: OEMs fail to configure Windows XP for dual-core systems
Hello there Nick,
this fix is NOT for intel 6xx series (2MB cache Prescott) or later with intel chipsets. Why some people implicates Core 2(tm) is beyond me. Bad research I guess.
AMD admitted the problem concerning their X2. Intel just fixed it long before in the Hyperthreading days and nobody noticed.
I have used Pentium D's and Core2's for a long time now, for a large number of games. I have only had problems with Nvidia Nforce4 chipsets, or setups with 4GB or more of RAM. I mean NO problems - NO patches.
best regards

Subject: Green Team will push 8800 Ultra up against X2900 XTX
"Given that not even the most demanding Vista games on the market today even come close to taxing an 8800 GTX, just how fast is fast enough?"
Not plucking fast enough.

Subject: Gigasus
Gigabyte doesn't have enough money to support Asus' faulty products lately. I don't think Asus does either, which is probably why they wanted to join up.
I believe that people are gradually starting to find out how Asus really works. I have to say that if an Asus board actually works (from the start or for at least a year), it works well. But, unfortunately you're screwed if you need to get an RMA or Repair done. One of the last few boards I sent back was a P5AD2-Premium. It went back twice for repairs and still didn't work. The last time I told them I wanted a replacement and was told that there wasn't a replacement in stock. 2 months later, there was still no replacement available FROM THE MANUFACTURER OF THE BOARD!
Needless to say, I'll never buy their products again.
Gigabyte made the right decision.

Subject: "King of folding" my Aris...
Headlines like that are right up there with "McDonalds crowned king of culinary excellence" based solely on the number of outlets.
Personally I'm disappointed with the much vaunted power of the PS3 and the Cell, by looking at the numbers it's clear that the PS3 has well under half the folding muscle of an ATI X1900XT! (The ATI1900XT is the baseline card for the GPU folding project)
Strangely enough, the good old Xbox 360 would probably crush the PS3 running Folding@home, as its GPU core (the C1) bears a lot of similarities to the X1900XT.
So which of the following are you going to own up to? Either you can't do basic maths or you actually believed the bullshit that Sony has been spreading?

Subject: Flash drives
When you report on Flash drives, can you try to find data on the number of read/write cycles that the drive can do before it dies?
I have been seeing a lot of MTBF figures for flash drives, but the read/write cycle limit is far more appropriate.
Thanks.

Subject: Damp Consoles and silly shoppers
The only people I know of todate that have purchased a PS3 were the idiots that qued up at midnight to get one launch day. as far as I know you can go in to any shop to get one! Where as the Wii is not sitting in stock any where long!
I hate to say it but your guy who commented on Bittorrent users should realise that many software companys are building it in to their programs as a way of shifting updates around a network quickly! If I have the choice between a Torrent or a 'normal' download I take the Torrent since it is quicker!

Subject: letter to mexicans
i think what they're doing is just inane. Going down the Jack Thompson highway won't possibly do any good. not to mention it's just a freakin' game, if all the nations started acting like Mexico, we'd have a whole bunch of angry Koreans, Nazis and Chinese people bickering on how Video Games offend their culture and crap like that. on Mexico's part, it's a pretty lame excuse to grab Attention, then again, this is Mexico we're talking about. i always expect the unexpected from mexicans.
