New build, new features, new bug fixes
Mon Jun 26 2006, 13:11
A NEW BETA release of Vista, build 5456, has made its way to the hot little hands of Microsoft Connect beta testers everywhere.

Although we haven't yet had a chance to try it, the buzz around the water cooler is positive. Paul Thurrott reckons 5456 installs much faster than previous versions, has better networking support and features tangible performance improvements.

He goes on to say that DVD Maker, Windows Movie Maker, Photo Gallery and Internet Explorer 7 have been improved and that a lot of new icons and branding have been added. Vista now warns that Aero might impact performance and folder list view is back.

Brandon LeBlanc of hive.net describes his impressions of 5456. He lists new changes to the network center, which is now called the network and sharing center, additions to windows update, and changes to the windows security center and system properties.

He goes on to say that performance has improved and that the best change would have to be the new network centre.

Here's hoping! µ
