D-Link class action settlement proposed

But it means buying another D-Link
Mon May 16 2005, 12:05
IF YOU BOUGHT any of a huge list of D-Link products between the 1st of December 1999 and March 31st of this year you could be eligible for a 15 per cent discount on, yes, another D-Link product.

Ready for the list of products affected? Ready or not, here they come.

They are the DI-624, DWL-2000AP, DWL-G520, DI-824VUP, DWL-2100AP, DWL-G650, DWL-G810, DWL-G800AP, DWL-G132, DWL-2100AP/LU, DWL-G820, DI-524, DWL-G510, DP-G310, DSM-320, DWL-G630, DWL-G120, DPG-2000W, DWL-G700AP, DWL-G730AP, DWL-G650X, DWL-G122, DP-G321, DCS-3220G, DCS-5300G, DI-784, DWL-AG660, DWL-7100AP, DWL-AG530, DWL-7200AP, DI-774, DWL-AG650, DWL-7000AP, DWL-AG520, DWL-2700AP, DWL-1700AP, DWL-1750, DWL-1000AP+, DWL-2200AP, DWL-2210AP, DI-514, DWL-122, DWL-520, DCF-660W, DWL-810, DP-311U, DCS-900W, DI-713P, DWL-700AP, DWL-650, DWL-120, DWL-650H, DP-311P, DP-313, DCS-1000W, DWL-900AP, DI-714, DCF-650W, DWL-500, DWL-1000AP, DI-713, DI-711, DCF-650W/K, DVC-1100, DCS-2100+, DI-714P+, DWL-810+, DWL-650+, DWL-120+, DCS-5300W, DWL-800AP+, DI-614+, DWL-900AP+, DWL-520+, DI-754, DWL-6000AP, DWL-AB650, DWL-A650, DI-764, DWL-5000AP, DWL-AB520, and the DWL-A520.

Got that? The proposed settlement is as a result of a class action in California filed by individuals and no doubt administered by ambulance chasing lawyers who will get more than a 15 per cent discount on a future D-Link product.

Indeed, lawyer fees and costs will amount to $850,000 which is no small potato.

As part of the proposed deal, D-Link will donate $25,000 worth of D-Link products to the National Association for the Exchange of Industrial Resources.

D-Link also has to put a notice on future products which essentially says wireless signal rate will vary according to circumstances.

We and D-Link are obviously in the wrong business. We should be lawyers. µ
